EU-124 - Isle of Anglesey - Ynys Môn

RSGB IOTA Contest 1999

MW7Z was the leading multi-operator Island station in 1998 and 1999 - here are a few of the details about the operation.

Fred G4BWP and Lionel G5LP have been taking part in the IOTA contest since it's inception, using GW5LP/P, MW7Z, and MW8Z contest calls.   Over the years the scores and positions have increased, and so has the size of the team.

Where is EU-124  ?

EU-124 comprises the Island of Anglesey, or Ynys Môn as it known in the Welsh language.   It lies off the north west coast of Wales, which itself is in EU-005.   The contest site is a dairy farm, and operation is from a garage next to the farmhouse.   All of the antennas are set up the day before the contest in an adjacent field.

When you read this Anglesey will have reverted to being EU-5.  Something to do with a big road bridge connecting to the mainland.....
