about me

Starting to dig.

This is my Dad John who provided invaluable help !
Note the antenna boom in the background - we used it
to make sure we were digging in the right place !

We took the turf off, and when complete
we were able to transplant it back
Getting there slowly !
We needed a cubic metre of concrete to support the mast

Filling the hole with concrete
Job done !

Building the C3SS - keep the element bundles together !

However, it soon starts to take shape.
The element sections are rivetted together.

A work party from Wythall Radio Club, masterminded by Reg G7OJO mixed the concrete one Saturday morning.
Many hands make light work - we were all done in about 2 hours.   My role was to feed the troops -
we called it "Bacon-Fest"......

Thanks to one and all !

Mast built, rotator added.

Trial build of the antenna.  It looks quite big from here !
The eagle-eyed will spot I have put one pair
of the linear loaded sections on backwards ;-)
